Dimensions, Malaysia’s First Made For Mobile Sci-Fi Series

Dimensions, dubbed as Malaysia’s first made for mobile Sci-Fi series. The series is currently available on www.dimensions.com.my. Maxis will be partnering with Astro in producing the series. The launch party was held in The Palace, Sheraton Kuala Lumpur.

Because of the increasing mobile user (heavy users), Maxis sees a demand for mobile TV, and hence Dimensions was born. There will be 11 episodes and each episodes will be aired once a week. The cast for Dimensions derives from a group of seasoned and new actors, such as Dhanya Nambiar, Nur Hazwani, Ammar Alfian Aziz, Jehan Miskin, Ben Tan and Anne James.

Mobile users will need to sign-up for the series to be delivered weekly to their mobile devices and guess what? There will be  no data and download charges for the service. To sign up, send “ON <space> DS” to 22900. That said, normal users can view the series on the Dimensions site.

Kuala Lumpur, 12 Nov 2009 – Maxis Berhad (“Maxis”) today announced its partnership with Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd (“MBNS”), a subsidiary of Astro All Asia Networks plc (“Astro”), to introduce an entertainment innovation aimed at  redefining the mobile entertainment experience in Malaysia.

The partnership will see the creation and delivery of rich mobile TV content such as custom-made video productions, as well as Astro’s Mobile TV channels, through Maxis’ content distribution channels – hence Dimensions, Malaysia’s first made-for-mobile entertainment series.

The 11-episode science-fiction saga will be delivered weekly to customers who sign up by sending ON <space> DS to 22900.  The series unfolds an epic story in a new format. It employs a new and fast-paced narrative style suited to mobile devices, to tell a contemporary Malaysian story weaving in local folklore and legends”, said T. “These episodes are available after November 11 to all Maxis and Hotlink subscribers, while all Malaysians can enjoy the series, and participate interactively in the unfolding storyline, through the Dimensions website (www.dimensions.com.my) and its associated Dimensions Facebook page”, Kugan added.

Kugan, “Maxis subscribers to the series will receive SMS alerts to the latest video and textual releases from the storyline, and through the WAP portal links contained in the SMS updates, be able also to participate in forums, download exclusive extras, and each create his own experience of the innovative series.”

Dimensions is now available for Maxis 3G and Astro Mobile TV subscribers to watch on their mobile devices, without incurring any download or data charges. iPhone users are able to watch Dimensions by streaming directly from the Dimensions WAP portal, a specially-created facility in conjunction with the release of the series.
