Blu-Ray dying? Well, you can say that again. Sharp has recently developed a new technique that helps them to produce Blu-Ray disc with the capacity of 75 and 100 Gb’s. It’s called the “The Most Powerful Laser Cutting Technology In The World” (just kidding).
The technology does rely on the laser technology and Sharp has mastered it. The new laser now reads aluminum oxynitride film coating, this of course is way better than the old dielectric as it allows the disc to have up to 3 and 4 layer, which of course increases the capacity.

But with this technology being implied to the market and industry, will the demand for Blu-Ray increase? Currently, the price for a Blu-Ray player is still sky high and switching over to it will take quite a tad bit of adaption.
100 Gb’s, that’s wow for a piece of plastic eh?
