DV2 Floor

Netbook’s are a pain in the arse, as the main problem is the processor capability. Looking for something small and powerful? Forget about them. Well then, HP has now come up with an all-new model, the HP Pavilion DV2. The DV2 is classified as an entertainment laptop, rather than a netbook (perhaps it’s just too big). It weighs at 3.8-pounds with a keyboard that is 8% short of full-sized, a 12.1-inch (1,280 x 800 pixels) LCD, a 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 processor (really speedy), up to 4GB of memory and 500GB of disk, 802.11n WiFi of course, Bluetooth, and WWAN support. ATI Mobility Radeon HD3410, an angel for this beauty, works like a charm too! An external Dual-Layer Superdrive is included; Blu-ray player will be on its way as an optional extra. HDMI output, an integrated webcam, and 3.5 to 4-hours of battery. These are just the main features of the HP Pavilion DV2, wait till you turn it on.

Most mini laptops run on Windows XP, but this unit runs on the full stream Vista, which of course performs and works much better. And with the addition of the HP Media Centre, the machine runs way more interesting than its competitors.

As we were testing it, we found a few key features (good) and some glitches (bad).

1. The LCD screen suffered from bad black reflections.

2. The DV2 get’s hot despite its low voltage.

3. Overloaded HP software that made it sluggish.

4. Tagging the External Drive causes the whole package to be heavy.

5. The design is rather slick.

6. Track pad is smooth and easy to use.

7. Great performance from a mini laptop.

8. Perfect pricing range.
